TRANSGENDER/TRANSSEXUAL SPECIFIC WORK
I am trained in lymphatic drainage (MLD), and have an emphasis on therapeutic touch for those recovering from gender-related restorative surgeries (such as chest reconstruction surgery). My practice is a safe space for all, regardless of assigned-at-birth sex or gender identity/gender presentation. (I am happy to work with anyone and everyone who wants my service, so please do not feel marginalized if you are not part of one of these communities!)
Trans*-specific work I provide include:
- massage therapy (including MLD) targeted to those who use binders, working all 27 muscles directly affected by binding, and restoring/improving lymph circulation impeded by binding
- work specific to those who have had surgery and need to re-balance their torso muscles and restore proper lymphatic circulation
It is a sad fact that, because of the gendering of our society, many people who were assigned female at birth have never received therapeutic touch to their pectoral muscles nor to their rib cage -- vital areas for weight-bearing activities and proper breathing. In addition to these specific massage protocols I developed, I am happy to work with you on an on-going basis to help improve your own muscular issues.
BODYWORK FOR OTHER MARGINALIZED PERSONS
Another area of focus is with individuals who have physical injuries and/or body-stored trauma due to their involvement with direct actions. As a life-long activist, I understand the ways we push ourselves, sometimes into chronic pain, as well as the particular physical injuries that may arise from such activities. My space is free of judgement about activities that may fall outside of the legal framework -- if your body was injured, regardless of how or why, I will help you heal.
I also have experience working with current and former sex workers (from pro dommes to street-based prostitutes to escorts). Also note that my practice is a safe space for individuals from a variety of non-mainstream populations. Some who engage in BDSM or other activities that leave visible marks might feel uncomfortable about receiving body work from a therapist unfamiliar with such activities. Part of what led me to open this practice was knowing that there were people wanting this work but who didn't feel that it was accessible to them. No one will be judged in my office, and confidential information will be kept strictly confidential. If you have visible marks due to consensual activities, simply note their placement on your intake form; I will work around the area(s) if needed due to freshness or pain.
